Description Boris Belovic 2010-11-10 13:40:47 UTC
project_key: SOA

PRD for SOA-INCG-4 says:

Following installation and startup of the Data Services enabled profile, the Teiid and ModeShape environments will be up and running and ready to accept JDBC connections. A sample system catalog query will be documented for users to verify the system is ready.

While Teiid and Modeshape work fine after installation, there isn't specified anywhere how should that "simple catalog query" look like or what kind of data it should retrieve/provide.

Is this catalog query meant to retrieve information about all tables that are accessible through specific VDB deployed in SOA-P?

Comment 1 Van Halbert 2010-11-10 13:49:13 UTC
Regarding Teiid and per the ERD comment on SOA-INCG-4:

Teiid will be ready to accept JDBC Connections once a VDB has been deployed because the VDB name is required as part of the jdbc URL. However, a non-jdbc client can make an admin connection, similar to the way JOPR connects, to verify readiness.

As for ModeShape in SOA, in ER4, the example query_modeshape_using_teiid describes how to execute a query, which in turn, verifies the accessibility of ModeShape. That is one option.

Presuming this will be covered in the Getting Started Guide

Comment 3 Anne-Louise Tangring 2010-12-06 16:54:39 UTC
Usability and customer sat is important, thus this is made a blocker for SOA 5.1.

do any of the GSG examples cover this ?

Comment 8 Van Halbert 2011-01-25 01:53:16 UTC
There isn't anything really to cover here. The user should use the admin console. There is no catalog query to execute to verify the system is ready. How to administer and monitor EDS is in the documentation. There's no reason to duplicate it in a GSG.

Comment 9 Dana Mison 2011-01-27 09:21:15 UTC
hmmm, ok.

Will add a comment at the end of the installation instructions to point this out.
