Well, not sure what would be the culprit here, but it's not xfce4-panel I am pretty sure. Either libwnck or compiz is doing something wrong. I'd move it over to one of those components? I don't think that compiz uses desktops or workspaces but rather it's own 'viewports'. Raphael, can you please check what "xprop -root _NET_NUMBER_OF_DESKTOPS" reports? $ xprop -root _NET_NUMBER_OF_DESKTOPS _NET_NUMBER_OF_DESKTOPS(CARDINAL) = 4 Another observation: compiz overwrites my previously done setting of 4 for the count of virtual "desktops" of Xfce and resets it initially to 1. I had to set it again in ccsm: General / Desktop size, or so. But after that, Xfce can work also with the new compiz setting and shows 4 in its own configuration dialog. This message is a reminder that Fedora 16 is nearing its end of life. Approximately 4 (four) weeks from now Fedora will stop maintaining and issuing updates for Fedora 16. It is Fedora's policy to close all bug reports from releases that are no longer maintained. At that time this bug will be closed as WONTFIX if it remains open with a Fedora 'version' of '16'. Package Maintainer: If you wish for this bug to remain open because you plan to fix it in a currently maintained version, simply change the 'version' to a later Fedora version prior to Fedora 16's end of life. Bug Reporter: Thank you for reporting this issue and we are sorry that we may not be able to fix it before Fedora 16 is end of life. If you would still like to see this bug fixed and are able to reproduce it against a later version of Fedora, you are encouraged to click on "Clone This Bug" and open it against that version of Fedora. Although we aim to fix as many bugs as possible during every release's lifetime, sometimes those efforts are overtaken by events. Often a more recent Fedora release includes newer upstream software that fixes bugs or makes them obsolete. The process we are following is described here: http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/BugZappers/HouseKeeping Fedora 16 changed to end-of-life (EOL) status on 2013-02-12. Fedora 16 is no longer maintained, which means that it will not receive any further security or bug fix updates. As a result we are closing this bug. If you can reproduce this bug against a currently maintained version of Fedora please feel free to reopen this bug against that version. Thank you for reporting this bug and we are sorry it could not be fixed. Raphael, if you still consider this a bug, please reassign it to compiz. Christoph, thanks for your reminder. To be honest, I am not sure what we should do with this bug. - Fedora 16 reached EOL and compiz has been orphaned with another version in those days of F16. I don't really use compiz with F17+. - Compiz seems to be too bloated to do some senseful tests in regard to QA. - That issue is more like an incompatibility between libwnck (Gnome...) and compiz. I can't tell anything about the current versions in Fedora. Upstream of Xfce is informed: https://bugzilla.xfce.org/show_bug.cgi?id=7642 Sorry for the noise. I don't know really what you mean with clickable previews in workspace-switcher in xfce, because i use xfce very seldom. Here is a current screenshot with compiz-0.88 in f18 xfce. https://dl.dropbox.com/u/49862637/compiz-f18/Bildschirmfoto%20-%2017.02.2013%20-%2018%3A16%3A18.png Correct me if i'm wrong, but i see previews in the workspace-switcher and they are clickable. Compiz packages for f17 are currently in updates-testing-pending. Feel free to test them in xfce. Feedback is welcome. |
