usb-storage.ko build w/ debug messages
I built usb-storage.ko w/ debug turned on. This attachment shows the resulting messages. Note that the WRITE_10 at line 1217 fails after 268 bytes of 1024 are written, and things go downhill from there.
My computer is a Dell Workstation 530n with Dual 2Ghz Xeons running FC16. I tried connecting my Pantech to a IBM thinkpad R40 running FC15, and surprisingly enough, it works just fine for both reads and writes -- 1.5Gs worth. No USB errors at all. Strange. Note that my iPod and Kindle work just fine with both my Dell Workstation 530n and the IBM thinkpad R40. [mass update] kernel-3.3.0-4.fc16 has been pushed to the Fedora 16 stable repository. Please retest with this update. [mass update] kernel-3.3.0-4.fc16 has been pushed to the Fedora 16 stable repository. Please retest with this update. [mass update] kernel-3.3.0-4.fc16 has been pushed to the Fedora 16 stable repository. Please retest with this update. Still fails with kernel-3.3.0-4.fc16 as reported on Dell Workstation 530n. # Mass update to all open bugs. Kernel 3.6.2-1.fc16 has just been pushed to updates. This update is a significant rebase from the previous version. Please retest with this kernel, and let us know if your problem has been fixed. In the event that you have upgraded to a newer release and the bug you reported is still present, please change the version field to the newest release you have encountered the issue with. Before doing so, please ensure you are testing the latest kernel update in that release and attach any new and relevant information you may have gathered. If you are not the original bug reporter and you still experience this bug, please file a new report, as it is possible that you may be seeing a different problem. (Please don't clone this bug, a fresh bug referencing this bug in the comment is sufficient). With no response, we are closing this bug under the assumption that it is no longer an issue. If you still experience this bug, please feel free to reopen the bug report. |
Created attachment 555394 [details] dmesg text showing phone attaching Description of problem: I have a Pantech HotShot phone which can act as an USB mass storage device when attached via usb cable. When I attach the phone to the machine, the media system mounts it up OK -- I can see the contents and copy files *from* the phone to my computer, but copying files from the computer to the phone fail rather spectacularly. If I attach the phone to a Windows 7 machine, I can easily copy files in both directions without a problem. Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): How reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Configure Phone to USB mass storage mode 2. Attach using USB cable 3. Wait for media system to detect and mount it, then try to copy files to phone. Actual results: Copy to phone appears to work until explicit sync or implicit sync through umount. Expected results: Should have same experience as when using Windows 7 box Additional info: See attachments for the gory details
