Description Ashley Penney 2012-01-16 20:04:15 UTC
I'm unsure if bugzilla is the right place to make this request but I'd like to request that Redhat package up and include the OCI8 module of PHP as it's something we rely on internally and it's difficult for us to sync it up with the various changes to PHP made in RHEL6.

http://www.php.net/manual/en/book.oci8.php is the manual for the module, it's a part of upstream PHP so I don't think there should be any significant licence issues. I suspect nobody has ever requested it before.

This is a slim hope but it would be greatly appreciated!

This request was evaluated by Red Hat Product Management for inclusion in the
current release of Red Hat Enterprise Linux. Because the affected component is
not scheduled to be updated in the current release, Red Hat is unfortunately
unable to address this request at this time. It has been proposed for the next
release. If you would like it considered as an exception in the current
release, please ask your support representative.

Thanks for contacting us. The "oci8" extension depends on the proprietary Oracle client libraries, so we cannot enable it within the php package, I'm afraid.

Comment 5 RHEL Program Management 2012-02-01 10:04:34 UTC
Development Management has reviewed and declined this request. You may appeal
this decision by reopening this request.
