Bug 783051

XSD author Boris Kolpackov has split his creation into multiple pieces.
As stated at http://www.codesynthesis.com/projects/xsd/ dependencies include following pieces of code that are specific to xsd and AFAIK are not shared by any other piece of software in Fedora:
- build
- libxsd-frontend
- libbackend-elements
- libcult
- libfrontend-elements (pulled in by libxsd-frontend)

To make building xsd easier, he is distributing a "bundle" that contains all of these libraries. Splitting up the bundle would result in 7 packages instead of one, considerably ramping up the packaging and maintenance effort required.

Debian is also using the bundled version to build their xsd package.

The only justification to splitting up the package could come from another software in fedora that depends on either libcult or any other "bundled" library of xsd. As of today I am not aware that any such software exists in Fedora.

Therefore I would like to ask the reporter if he is aware of any package in Fedora of Fedora Extra repositories that either depends on libcult or includes it in it's source code.

This bug appears to have been reported against 'rawhide' during the Fedora 19 development cycle.
Changing version to '19'.

Has FPC formally granted an exception on this package?

If not, I hereby formally ask you, Antti to file a bundling request to FPC,
rsp. to remove your package from Fedora.

more recent Fedora release includes newer upstream software that fixes 
bugs or makes them obsolete.

Fedora 19 changed to end-of-life (EOL) status on 2015-01-06. Fedora 19 is
no longer maintained, which means that it will not receive any further
security or bug fix updates. As a result we are closing this bug.

If you can reproduce this bug against a currently maintained version of
Fedora please feel free to reopen this bug against that version. If you
are unable to reopen this bug, please file a new report against the
current release. If you experience problems, please add a comment to this
