Description edoardo linington 2012-01-19 15:32:28 UTC
Description of problem:

I brought several more machines into the certificate-based subscription management. Just one VM is remaining. Although it tells me it is subscribed locally (when invoking the "subscription-manager list" command) and I can do updates and so on without problems, the customer portal do not show the status "valid through", but "unkown". The VM-name is kommportal.spree.de in case you want to have a look in the customer portal.

I figured out, that this problem occurs as long as the subscription-manager is not version 0.96.17. Due to the fact that the kommportal-VM is a RHEL 5.7 machine, I can't update the subscription-manager. The latest version in the rhel5-Repositories is a 0.95.x. I would like to have both 5.7 and 6.x clients synchronized in the customer portal, so I have the customer portal view as a single point of access for all subscription management purposes (renewals etc.).

Any ideas how to get a subscription-manager 0.96 working in a RHEL 5.7, so synchronisation of customer portal and local systems works? Or can I make a bug-fix request for the 0.95.x version used in RHEL 5.7 with respect to the documentation stating RHEL 5.7 systems can be subscribed in the cert-based subscription management?

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
please see above

How reproducible:

I have figured that out because we used a RHEL 6.1 DVD installation for some installations which ships with the 0.95.x version of the subscription-manager. There the same problem occured as long as I did not performed an update of the subscription-manager to 0.96.17. But, for the RHEL 5 machine this is not possible because there is no 0.96.17 version in the rhel-5-repository, but a 0.95.x.

Steps to Reproduce:
please see above

Actual results:
the customer portal do not show the status "valid through", but "unkown

Expected results:
the customer portal should show the status "valid"
