Description Alexandre Singh 2012-01-24 03:02:36 UTC
Hi, it's just a simple request, but it could be helpful for a lot of users.

Tint2 SVN has launchers (like a dock) capability, and a lot of distributions have already this version in their repositories. It would be great to have that one in Fedora.

It runs pretty well by the way.

Thanks for reading, have a great day.

Salve, scrivo per chiedere se fosse possibile rendere disponibile la versione SVN di tint2 (la sola che supporta i lanciatori) anche per i repository di Fedora, come già avviene per altre disribuzioni Linux.
Grazie per l'attenzione.

[Hello, I'm writing in order to ask if it would be possible to have titn2 SVN (the only release supporting launchers) available for Fedora repositories too, because as of now there is only for other Linux distibutions.
Thaks in advance, good bye.]

Hello:

I apologize for my late answer.

I'd like to ask you both something: as I'm not using tint2 any more, I'd like you to explain me what is this feature of tint2.

Launcers are basically icons that you click to start anew a certain program (i. e. browser, text editor, terminal... whatever you want).
They are different from the taskbar because the taskbar lets you maximize/minimize/close windows of programs you already started.
You can see launcers as a "shortcut" to start a program (you need just a click) or replacemets for icons in desktop environments where as default icons aren't enabled (i. e. gnome 3.2, openbox).

I hope I was clear.
Thank you in advance for your commitment.
Good bye.

Hi Pier Paolo,

You have been very clear indeed :)

I think that this won't be an stable release but a SVN (unstable) release, and I'm not sure if I can do that.

I also don't know if this feature (launchers) will be part of a stable release in the near future, but I'll ask upstream.

All the best,
Germán.

Comment 5 Fedora End Of Life 2013-01-16 13:37:21 UTC
This message is a reminder that Fedora 16 is nearing its end of life.
Approximately 4 (four) weeks from now Fedora will stop maintaining
and issuing updates for Fedora 16. It is Fedora's policy to close all
bug reports from releases that are no longer maintained. At that time
this bug will be closed as WONTFIX if it remains open with a Fedora
'version' of '16'.

Package Maintainer: If you wish for this bug to remain open because you
plan to fix it in a currently maintained version, simply change the 'version'
to a later Fedora version prior to Fedora 16's end of life.

Bug Reporter: Thank you for reporting this issue and we are sorry that
we may not be able to fix it before Fedora 16 is end of life. If you
would still like to see this bug fixed and are able to reproduce it
against a later version of Fedora, you are encouraged to click on
"Clone This Bug" and open it against that version of Fedora.

Although we aim to fix as many bugs as possible during every release's
lifetime, sometimes those efforts are overtaken by events. Often a
more recent Fedora release includes newer upstream software that fixes
bugs or makes them obsolete.

The process we are following is described here:

Comment 6 Fedora End Of Life 2013-02-13 14:28:32 UTC
Fedora 16 changed to end-of-life (EOL) status on 2013-02-12. Fedora 16 is
no longer maintained, which means that it will not receive any further
security or bug fix updates. As a result we are closing this bug.

If you can reproduce this bug against a currently maintained version of
Fedora please feel free to reopen this bug against that version.

Thank you for reporting this bug and we are sorry it could not be fixed.
