Description brian 2012-01-26 07:30:53 UTC
Description of problem:

redhat-lsb currently requires redhat-lsb-graphics as a hard dependency.

redhat-lsb-graphics hauls in a whole boatload of graphical desktop libraries that really are quite unnecessary for a headless machine.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):

4.0-3

Actual results:

I *have* to install redhat-lsb-graphics and all of the GUI libraries that hauls in if I wan the basic redhat-lsb package.

Expected results:

I should be able to get the facilities of the redhat-lsb package without loading all of GTK, QT and X11 on my headless server.

This request was evaluated by Red Hat Product Management for
inclusion in the current release of Red Hat Enterprise Linux.
Because the affected component is not scheduled to be updated
in the current release, Red Hat is unfortunately unable to
address this request at this time. Red Hat invites you to
ask your support representative to propose this request, if
appropriate and relevant, in the next release of Red Hat
Enterprise Linux. If you would like it considered as an
exception in the current release, please ask your support
representative.

Could this be resolved by providing a separate redhat-lsb-core?
