Description Serge Droz 2012-01-28 12:43:04 UTC
Description of problem:

This is a system running mdraid.

After upgrading to the latest kernel (3.2.2-1 ) and rebooting there was not grub2 menu. Booting into rescue mode and trying to install grub again
grub2-mkconfig -o /boot/grub2/grub.cfg
grub2-install /dev/sda
I got the following warning:
warn: your core.img is unusually large, it won't fit in the
embedding area..

This may be related to Bug 737508. Comment 42 (https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=737508#c42) inspired me to downgrade to grub2-1.99-12 which allowed an install.

My first partition is Windows, and I thus can't delete and recreate it.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
grub-1.99-13
kernel-3.2.2-1.fc16.x86_64

PS: Fedora support for this raid setup ha been a huge disappointment since about two releases.

How reproducible:

Steps to Reproduce:
1.
2.
3.

Actual results:
Unable to boot

Expected results:
Boot
