Are you still having issues with this with kernel 3.4.9 or newer? Yes, the bug still exists.I'm using kernel 3.5.3-1.fc17.x86_64 and kde 4.8.5. When I log in to KDM the set language is german, but the keyboard is set to english. After the log in process the keyboard settings change to german. That doesn't sound like a kernel problem to me. Locale setting is up to userspace. I'll route this to KDM for now. KDM uses the systemwide default keyboard layout, not the one you have set for your user. (Of course. Which user's layout should it use when there are multiple users?) Use system-config-keyboard to set it. (In reply to comment #4) > KDM uses the systemwide default keyboard layout, not the one you have set > for your user. (Of course. Which user's layout should it use when there are > multiple users?) Use system-config-keyboard to set it. Thanks for the hint, but I've already tried that: Lade /lib/kbd/keymaps/i386/qwertz/de-latin1-nodeadkeys.map.gz. It changes nothing. Try "kdesu systemsettings" and setting the keyboard layout for root there. (In reply to comment #6) > Try "kdesu systemsettings" and setting the keyboard layout for root there. I have the keyboard layout enabled for root but it does not change. The system wide language is german. The keyboard is a Logitech K520. I'm using it as a generic pc-keyboard with 104-keys. Also other settings like "logitech cordless desktop" dosn't work. The update to kde 4.9.1 didn't solve my problem. It is interesting, if I lock the screen and I log in again, the language is German. This message is a reminder that Fedora 16 is nearing its end of life. Approximately 4 (four) weeks from now Fedora will stop maintaining and issuing updates for Fedora 16. It is Fedora's policy to close all bug reports from releases that are no longer maintained. At that time this bug will be closed as WONTFIX if it remains open with a Fedora 'version' of '16'. Package Maintainer: If you wish for this bug to remain open because you plan to fix it in a currently maintained version, simply change the 'version' to a later Fedora version prior to Fedora 16's end of life. Bug Reporter: Thank you for reporting this issue and we are sorry that we may not be able to fix it before Fedora 16 is end of life. If you would still like to see this bug fixed and are able to reproduce it against a later version of Fedora, you are encouraged to click on "Clone This Bug" and open it against that version of Fedora. Although we aim to fix as many bugs as possible during every release's lifetime, sometimes those efforts are overtaken by events. Often a more recent Fedora release includes newer upstream software that fixes bugs or makes them obsolete. This error does not care anymore, I use passwords that are compatible with the German keyboard layout. I'm on FC21. ok, thanks, closing. |
