Description of problem:
untarring a file on a striped replicate volume fails with EIO.

#tar -xvf openssl-1.0.0g.tar.gz
tar: openssl-1.0.0g.tar.gz: Cannot open: Input/output error
tar: Error is not recoverable: exiting now

Not able to reproduce the bug. Please re-open the bug if reproduced.
