Description of problem:
BY calling "man import" I get 
SYNOPSIS
       import [options] input-file

I think that's wrong: it should be:


SYNOPSIS
       import [options] output-file

Proof: The Overview section says :

Use it to capture some  or  all  of  an  X  server
       screen and save the image to a file
