Have you run md5sum on the ISO images that you downloaded and compared the resulting values with the CHECKSUM file located on the FTP server from which you downloaded your ISO images? One of my boxes had an ailing hard drive that failed to notify of a checksum problem (on the very low level of the EIDE chipset) - and let programs read data that was potentially corrupted. An md5sum of the ISO images clearly showed that the data was not properly written and/or read from that section of the hard disk. I gave up on the download and went with RH7.3 in a box. It installed perfectly. I suspect the checksum would have shown the error but then I'd be faced with another 24 hours of download time. Closing as such. |
