Description Jerzy Spendel 2012-02-14 16:02:51 UTC
Description of problem:

Problem of dependencies relations alsa-lib and alsa-utils in standard fedora 16 repo.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):

In standard repos of Fedora 16 alsa-lib is 1.0.24 but it need to be 1.0.25

How reproducible:

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Install and update fedora 16.

Actual results:

Setting up Update Process
Resolving Dependencies
--> Running transaction check
---> Package alsa-utils.x86_64 0:1.0.24.1-3.fc15 will be updated
---> Package alsa-utils.x86_64 0:1.0.25-7.fc16 will be an update
--> Processing Dependency: alsa-lib >= 1.0.25 for package: alsa-utils-1.0.25-7.fc16.x86_64
--> Finished Dependency Resolution
Error: Package: alsa-utils-1.0.25-7.fc16.x86_64 (updates)
           Requires: alsa-lib >= 1.0.25
           Installed: alsa-lib-1.0.24-2.fc15.x86_64 (@koji-override-0/$releasever)
               alsa-lib = 1.0.24-2.fc15
 You could try using --skip-broken to work around the problem
 You could try running: rpm -Va --nofiles --nodigest

Expected results:

There's need to be alsa-lib 1.0.25 in repos to update alsa-utils.

Additional info:

Nothing more.

Comment 1 Paul W. Frields 2012-02-14 19:12:59 UTC
This problem was caused by the maintainer(s) not pushing new alsa-* together in one update. Known problem:

https://admin.fedoraproject.org/updates/FEDORA-2012-1025/alsa-lib-1.0.25-1.fc16

You can use 'yum --skip-broken update' to work around the problem, or simply use PackageKit which already uses this function.

Not a documentation bug, but this should resolve itself in mirrors shortly, so doing CLOSED NEXTRELEASE here. Thanks for the report.
