After I posted my blog story regarding introduction of /etc/os-release people have requested we should also include the CPE name of the OS in that file, so that support for CPE is pushed into all distributions this way, going beyond the Fedora/Red Hat specific /etc/system-release-cpe file.

I have now updated the man page to define CPE_NAME= as optional variable. We probably should make use of this on Fedora. To make this easy I have prepped a patch for the fedora pkg git, as I didn't want to just commit this.

* was pushed to the Fedora 17 testing repository,
* should be available at your local mirror within two days.
Update it with:
# su -c 'yum update --enablerepo=updates-testing fedora-release-17-0.9'
as soon as you are able to.

fedora-release-17-0.9 has been pushed to the Fedora 17 stable repository.  If problems still persist, please make note of it in this bug report.
