Description Petr Pisar 2012-02-16 09:31:20 UTC
I have a job which I need to run each day. Most preferably around 3 AM. If it's not possible to run at 3 AM, then whenever in the day.

Current implementation can restrain the time by START_HOURS_RANGE. This option accepts exactly two values. The job is tried on begin of the range and then retried until end of the range.

Problem with START_HOURS_RANGE is you cannot specify time after noon. E.g. 3-24 excludes hours from 0:00 to 3:00. So you disable 3 hours effectively.

If I specify 3-2, then I would expect time from 2:00 to 3:00 will be excluded, but the job is not run at all.

I propose to extend START_HOURS_RANGE to allow to specify times after the noon. E.g. 3-2. Or even 3-3 to fulfill my request in first paragraph (whole day allowed, 3 AM preferred).

No, I do not want to conflate START_HOURS_RANGE with this meaning. However I agree that your request is legit and having this feature would be useful.

Also note that there is a similar feature request to have a preferred day of the week for the weekly jobs and day of the month for the monthly jobs as well. This should be implemented as a single feature.
