Set the session-timeout to 1 in jboss-as/server/default/deploy/gatein.ear/02portal.war/WEB-INF/web.xml :

<session-timeout>1</session-timeout> 
</session-config>

1. open portal
2. login as root
3. click on sitemap
4. wait for more then 1 minute
5. click on home

Instead of error you see:
Page not found.
You do not have permission to view this page.
Page can be deleted.
This node does not have any pages.
