package list before removing packages

Description of problem: upon removing unwanted packages, my cpu speed became like molasses, and shutdown is hung at cpuspeed stop. i deduce that cpuspeed has a blind dependency. first i'd like to know which package(s), so i can put them back. second, the dependencies should be observed in the rpm.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): [awaiting reboot of system to see]

How reproducible:
1. compare attached lists to see what packages i removed
2. remove them

Actual results: cpu speed became like molasses, and shutdown hung at cpuspeed stop

Expected results: cpuspeed proper functioning

Additional info: shutdown is printing:
[772801.386042] INFO: task vgs:249975 blocked for more than 120 seconds.
[772801.462917] "echo 0 > /proc/sys/kernel/hung_task_timeout_secs" disables this message.

Comment 2 Petr Šabata 2012-02-20 16:07:03 UTC
cpuspeed has no dependencies but the standard library and communicates with kernel via sysfs. There's nothing hidden. Maybe something is locking your sysfs files or kernel takes to long to read them (if ever) for some reason?

We haven't released even 6.3 yet; please, correct the component version.

Comment 3 gregrwm 2012-02-23 05:53:14 UTC
cpuspeed 1.5 15.el6 x86_64

...assuming 6.2.

Comment 6 RHEL Program Management 2012-09-07 05:13:38 UTC
This request was evaluated by Red Hat Product Management for
inclusion in the current release of Red Hat Enterprise Linux.
Because the affected component is not scheduled to be updated
in the current release, Red Hat is unable to address this
request at this time.

Red Hat invites you to ask your support representative to
propose this request, if appropriate, in the next release of
Red Hat Enterprise Linux.

Comment 7 Marcela Mašláňová 2012-09-13 08:15:46 UTC
Is it still reproducible? As Petr said there are no hidden dependencies.

Comment 8 Petr Šabata 2013-01-16 16:39:15 UTC
As I don't see a bug here and there hasn't been any response in months, I'm closing this as NOTABUG.
