Description Tony Browning 2012-02-19 23:38:02 UTC
Description of problem: Tried updating Software Updates, then displays this reading under ,More details:
Disk error: [Errno 2] No such file or directory: '/var/cache/yum/i386/16/updates-testing-source/d053e9aa9c28a290794dc96e497cc96d17a78e67a370eebff0d17f212889eab4-primary.sqlite.bz2'
But also displaying this reading at the top:
No space is left on the disk.
There is insufficient space on the device.
Free some space on the system disk to perform this operation.
But surely this can't be because Fedora's Baobab Disk Usage Analyzer displays that I have a Total Filesystem Usage partitioned off with a total of 7.7 GB and up to now I have only used 8.0% of that. Or could it be possible for Baobab to be wrong?
Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):

How reproducible:
This one time.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Tried installing software updates.
2. Installs stopped.
3. Displayed this message.

Actual results:
Did not install software updates.

Expected results:
Install software updates.

Additional info: I have just reformatted (cleaned everything) on my 100 GB hard disk and this is a new Fedora 16 install.

Taking a stab at a better component here with yum.

Comment 2 Zdeněk Pavlas 2012-02-21 07:28:24 UTC
> Baobab Disk Usage Analyzer displays .. only used 8.0% of that. Or could it be possible for Baobab to be wrong?

You've run out of root fs space, I guess. Baobab seems to display just totals (root + boot + home). Try running "df /".

Comment 3 Tony Browning 2012-02-26 00:26:37 UTC
Andrew the better component must have worked because my machine is back-up and running like new again. Thanks very much because thought my laptop might be gone on the blink, sure appreciate that. Also Zdenek thank you as well, I now have 12GB file system with just 12% used. Consider this bug as Fixed-For-Me.

Comment 4 Fedora Admin XMLRPC Client 2012-04-27 15:27:11 UTC
This package has changed ownership in the Fedora Package Database. Reassigning to the new owner of this component.

Comment 5 Fedora End Of Life 2013-01-16 16:48:04 UTC
This message is a reminder that Fedora 16 is nearing its end of life.
Approximately 4 (four) weeks from now Fedora will stop maintaining
and issuing updates for Fedora 16. It is Fedora's policy to close all
bug reports from releases that are no longer maintained. At that time
this bug will be closed as WONTFIX if it remains open with a Fedora
'version' of '16'.

Package Maintainer: If you wish for this bug to remain open because you
plan to fix it in a currently maintained version, simply change the 'version'
to a later Fedora version prior to Fedora 16's end of life.

Bug Reporter: Thank you for reporting this issue and we are sorry that
we may not be able to fix it before Fedora 16 is end of life. If you
would still like to see this bug fixed and are able to reproduce it
against a later version of Fedora, you are encouraged to click on
"Clone This Bug" and open it against that version of Fedora.

Although we aim to fix as many bugs as possible during every release's
lifetime, sometimes those efforts are overtaken by events. Often a
more recent Fedora release includes newer upstream software that fixes
bugs or makes them obsolete.

The process we are following is described here:
http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/BugZappers/HouseKeeping

Comment 6 Fedora End Of Life 2013-02-13 20:48:54 UTC
Fedora 16 changed to end-of-life (EOL) status on 2013-02-12. Fedora 16 is
no longer maintained, which means that it will not receive any further
security or bug fix updates. As a result we are closing this bug.

If you can reproduce this bug against a currently maintained version of
Fedora please feel free to reopen this bug against that version.

Thank you for reporting this bug and we are sorry it could not be fixed.
