Connections from a client to a broker, or broker-broker federated connections, do not work with GSSAPI as the authentication and SSL as the transport.

Mick, to your knowledge, is this still the case?

Yes, I believe this is still true.
But also I'm not sure that we want to support GSSAPI auth + SSL transport.
I think this is a policy question.
