Note: This bug is displayed in read-only format because the product is no longer active in Red Hat Bugzilla.
Red Hat Satellite engineering is moving the tracking of its product development work on Satellite to Red Hat Jira (issues.redhat.com). If you're a Red Hat customer, please continue to file support cases via the Red Hat customer portal. If you're not, please head to the "Satellite project" in Red Hat Jira and file new tickets here. Individual Bugzilla bugs will be migrated starting at the end of May. If you cannot log in to RH Jira, please consult article #7032570. That failing, please send an e-mail to the RH Jira admins at rh-issues@redhat.com to troubleshoot your issue as a user management inquiry. The email creates a ServiceNow ticket with Red Hat. Individual Bugzilla bugs that are migrated will be moved to status "CLOSED", resolution "MIGRATED", and set with "MigratedToJIRA" in "Keywords". The link to the successor Jira issue will be found under "Links", have a little "two-footprint" icon next to it, and direct you to the "Satellite project" in Red Hat Jira (issue links are of type "https://issues.redhat.com/browse/SAT-XXXX", where "X" is a digit). This same link will be available in a blue banner at the top of the page informing you that that bug has been migrated.

Sync Status (screenshot)

= Description of problem: =

http://documentation-stage.bne.redhat.com/docs/en-US/CloudForms/1.0/html/System_Engine_User_Guide/chap-System_Engine_User_Guide-Synchronization.html

* Chapter 7. Synchronization
  * Procedure 7.1. Synchronize Products

Step#5 states "Select the packages you wish to synchronize."

This is incorrect, as you don't select packages for to synchronize, you select "repositories" (or content).

= Additional information =

1. A screenshot would be really helpful on this page of instruction
2. An admonition (caution/warning/info) that content synchronization can take a *LONG* time depending on several factors, include 1) speed of disk drives, 2) network connection speed, 3) amount of content selected for synchronization

Comment 3 sachua 2012-04-02 05:24:50 UTC
Change made and committed in revision 0-25

Comment 4 sachua 2012-04-03 00:12:31 UTC
Screenshot will be added in 1.1 with other procedures that need to have one.

Comment 7 Sachin Ghai 2012-04-05 10:58:14 UTC
Verified with stage doc:

http://documentation-stage.bne.redhat.com/docs/en-US/CloudForms/1.0/html/System_Engine_User_Guide/sect-System_Engine_User_Guide-Content_Providers-Synchronization.html

3.5.1. Synchronization Status
  Synchronizing Products

step 3 of "Synchronize Products" procedure:

rephrased as below:

>> 3. Click on the Sync Status application subtab. A list of products available for synchronization is displayed.

And a note is added as:

"Content synchronization can take a long time. The length of time required is dependent on the speed of disk drives, network connection speed and the amount of content selected for synchronization."
