Description Jaroslaw Gorny 2012-02-25 14:18:32 UTC
Created attachment 565758 [details]
nautilus view, together with 'mount' output

Description of problem:
Not sure if this should be reported as nautilus or kernel bug.
After upgrade to kernel 3.3.0-0.rc4.git1.4.fc17.i686.PAE, removable disks (eg. USB drives) are no longer mounted under /run/user/<user_name>/media/<device>, but:
/run/media/<user_name>/<device>

As a result, no notification is visible, and also drives do not appear in nautilus left panel. See the screenshot attached.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
It's fresh F17 installation with all the updates (also updates-testing).
+ kernel 3.3.0-0.rc4.git1.4.fc17.i686.PAE
+ nautilus-3.3.5-1.fc17.i686

How reproducible:
Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Plug some USB drive (pendrive, external HDD)

Actual results:
Device mounted under /run/media/<user_name>/<device>
No notification in GNOME
Device not visible in nautilus navigation panel
Device mounted (see screenshot - mount command output)

Expected results:
Notification in GNOME about new device
Device visible in Nautilus navigation panel.

Which gvfs version please?

https://admin.fedoraproject.org/updates/FEDORA-2012-2316/gvfs-1.11.4-1.fc17

Comment 2 Jaroslaw Gorny 2012-02-27 11:46:47 UTC
gvfs-1.11.4-1.fc17.i686
However, looks like it somehow "magically" got fixed. Now removable devices are appearing in Nautilus, also dialog / pop-up is appearing in Gnome3 when new device connected.

Comment 3 Tomáš Bžatek 2012-03-08 15:55:32 UTC
There's no such thing as magic. I'm glad it works for you.
