In the latest kdebase-3.1-0.7 we are missing all the desktop files for 
configurung the desktop.....I think they were supposed to be in the 
Control Center instead of Settings but they all disappeared from the 
/usr/share/applications directory. ALSO the components seem to be 
gone.

oh yes, it's fixed in 3.1-0.9 or newer.
