Description of problem:

With introduction of defaultNamingContext to rootDSE of freeIPA, the ldap provider auto detection logic will now return AD provider type and not free IPA.

IMHO, The solution should be to manually specify using engine-manage-domains what is the LDAP provider type for the domain, and stop using the auto detection mechanism.
