Description nomnex 2012-03-08 15:31:13 UTC
Description of problem:

Old notebook pentium VI & Ati radeon 9200. I runs Fedora Lxde since 2 years (from F13) on this machine. I never experienced any problem after a kernel update.

Mar 07 18:03:22 Installed: kernel-2.6.42.9-1.fc15.i686. On reboot (Mar 08), just after the Fedora splash screen (the blue screen, with a white drop turning into the Fedora logo), it's a black screen, no log window, nothing.

A few more tries later, I see the log-in window, but I cannot use the mouse or the keyboard. The notebook keyboard, a USB keyboard, nothing respond. Then again, a series of black screen.

By chance I have another notebook, intel centrino (same kernel update, no issue). A nice person on freenode #fedora provided some guidance. I booted with the previous kernel, and modified grub.conf. I boot without problem with 2.6.42.7-1.fc15.i686

I enclose my logs in /var

I don't think that matters, but that's a typo, pentium IV.

Is this still present in 2.6.43/3.3?

Comment 4 Josh Boyer 2012-07-11 17:53:53 UTC
Fedora 15 has reached it's end of life as of June 26, 2012. As a result, we will not be fixing any remaining bugs found in Fedora 15.

In the event that you have upgraded to a newer release and the bug you reported is still present, please reopen the bug and set the version field to the newest release you have encountered the issue with. Before doing so, please ensure you are testing the latest kernel update in that release and attach any new and relevant information you may have gathered.

Thank you for taking the time to file a report. We hope newer versions of Fedora suit your needs.
