Whiteboard:
Fixed In Version: Doc Type: Known Issue
Doc Text:
iPad and iPhone devices ignore single-tap events outside pop-up elements, which subsequently do not disappear when users tap outside the element area. With the Image element, you can work around the issue with a single tap directly on the image. With the Date Picker element, picking a date makes it disappear. With the Simple Text Area, you can work around the issue by activating a different element on the page. With all other elements, the workaround is to navigate to a different page and then back.

Description Karel Piwko 2012-03-15 15:56:48 UTC
+++ This bug was initially created as a clone of Bug #724677 +++

securitylevel_name: Public

This behavior seems to be similar for all popup elements in GWT (date pickers, images, ...) on iPad/iPhone devices. Popups are supposed to disappear after user clicks/taps anywhere outside of it, but it doesn't work on iPad/iPhone. In some cases, only way how to get rid of already popped-out element, is to navigate to different page and back, or to activate different element on the same page. It seems like devices are ignoring single-tap event outside area of popped-out elements.

These are tested popup elements and *only* actions how to make them disappear:
image - single tap directly on image
date picker - pick a date
simple text area - activate different element on page

Yes it is valid for GWT 2.4.0 as well, cloned to WFK 2.0.

Comment 3 Karel Piwko 2012-06-22 07:42:54 UTC
This a documented upstream bug for GWT 2.4. Moving state to assigned to kept it open.

Should we move this issue to Errai [~csa] [~jfuerth] ?

Comment 8 JBoss JIRA Server 2013-07-30 18:15:28 UTC
Jonathan Fuerth <jfuerth> made a comment on jira WFK2-38

We could track this as an Errai issue, but it's really a pure upstream issue with GWT. We generally haven't tracked pure upstream GWT issues in our own issue tracker to date. I think we can safely close this.
