Description Tom Mannerhagen 2012-03-20 15:30:30 UTC
Description of problem:

When AC adapter is removed from the notebook, the system freezes.
Keyboard is completely locked up and screen updates are stopped. Mouse pointer is still working.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):

I am not quite sure here but xorg.0.log tells me the following:
X server 1.12.0
Nouveau version 0.0.16

How reproducible:
100%

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Boot the unit and log in
2. Pull the power to run on battery only
3. Watch when unit starts working hard to do nothing.

Actual results:
Unit hangs completely. Mouse pointer excepted.

Expected results:
Unit runs on battery and works normally.

Additional info:
Same issue is seen in Fedora 16!
Issue is seen also at login screen

Can you attach your kernel log from *after* it's hung please.

Kernel log - hopefully

Kernel log.
File retrieved from /var/log/

Comment 3 Tom Mannerhagen 2012-03-21 07:48:14 UTC
Hi

I did this:

- removed the file while the unit was still on external power
- waited a second or 2.
- pulled the plug and the unit hung.
- switched off hard and booted back up to retrieve the file from /var/log

As far as I can see, nothing was added between the point when I disconnected external power and hard shut down.
FYI - the same happens if I go from battery mode to DC-mode too.

Hi again

Some more details.

Switching to TTY2 - 6 before changing power-state prevents unit from hanging.
However trying to switch back to GUI does not work.

At this point a more usable messages-file has been created.
The stuff that looks related lies around line 1360.

Comment 6 Fedora End Of Life 2013-07-03 21:02:10 UTC
This message is a reminder that Fedora 17 is nearing its end of life.
Approximately 4 (four) weeks from now Fedora will stop maintaining
and issuing updates for Fedora 17. It is Fedora's policy to close all
bug reports from releases that are no longer maintained. At that time
this bug will be closed as WONTFIX if it remains open with a Fedora
'version' of '17'.

Package Maintainer: If you wish for this bug to remain open because you
plan to fix it in a currently maintained version, simply change the 'version'
to a later Fedora version prior to Fedora 17's end of life.

Bug Reporter: Thank you for reporting this issue and we are sorry that
we may not be able to fix it before Fedora 17 is end of life. If you
would still like to see this bug fixed and are able to reproduce it
against a later version of Fedora, you are encouraged change the
'version' to a later Fedora version prior to Fedora 17's end of life.

Although we aim to fix as many bugs as possible during every release's
lifetime, sometimes those efforts are overtaken by events. Often a
more recent Fedora release includes newer upstream software that fixes
bugs or makes them obsolete.

Comment 7 Fedora End Of Life 2013-07-31 21:47:10 UTC
Fedora 17 changed to end-of-life (EOL) status on 2013-07-30. Fedora 17 is
no longer maintained, which means that it will not receive any further
security or bug fix updates. As a result we are closing this bug.

If you can reproduce this bug against a currently maintained version of
Fedora please feel free to reopen this bug against that version.

Thank you for reporting this bug and we are sorry it could not be fixed.
