Description Mads Kiilerich 2012-03-22 12:04:22 UTC
I updated to vte3-0.32.0-1.fc17.i686 and immediately started getting
*** VTE ***: Failed to load terminal capabilities from '/etc/termcap'
when opening a new tab in gnome-terminal-3.3.0-1.fc17.i686, and for example arrow keys didn't work.

Downgrading to vte3-0.31.0-4.fc17.i686 fixed it.

Hmm. It seems like this only is seen when an existing gnome-terminal started with the old vte3 is running. After exiting gnome-terminal and starting it again it seems to work fine.

The impact might thus be very low - it is just a slightly odd upgrade experience. Recommending a reboot after the update might work as a solution.

Please close if you don't care ;-)

Hi Mads,

I think the behaviour where opening new tabs doesn't work until gnome-terminal restart is perfectly fine for updates in a development version of Fedora.

Thanks for the report!
