Description Edward Z. Yang 2012-03-26 18:22:31 UTC
We recently noticed that yum-updatesd mysteriously stopped running around the time we did an upgrade from yum-updatesd-1:0.9-4.fc15.noarch to 1:0.9-10.fc15.noarch. However, when we ran 'systemctl enable yum-updatesd.service' and rebooted, the updatesd service came up as normal.

This is seems poor form: if a service was previously being loaded by default, it should not mysteriously get disabled upon an update. However, I couldn't find any indication that any of the relevant systemd unit files had been updated, which just makes me really confused.

a few weeks ago I patched yum-updatesd to work again on fedora >= 15. I also inherited the new systemd targets for the service. Probably this wasn't a good idea. The behaviour you have experienced is quite expected. After migration from sysv to systemd the service should be disabled by default. Nevertheless I agree with you. I'm gonna enable yum-updatesd by default again. Await a fix in the next couple of days.
