The system right after login, these stripes are very similar to stripes in any app window - depends of content.

Description of problem:
When I forced to Software rendered Gnome Shell instead of hardware rendered one by option NoAccel in xorg.conf, the system is unusable - instead of content of most (~90%) windows and dialogs are stripes made of expected content. Only some apps, e.g. gnome-terminal (and not in maximized mode) works fine, background, firefox and other apps are unusable. But if you know where to click, button and areas are reachable even they aren't visible correctly.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
xorg-x11-drv-nouveau-0.0.16-35.20120306gitf5d1cd2.fc17.i686
gnome-shell-3.3.92-1.fc17.i686

How reproducible:
100%

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Have nvidia graphic card with nouveau driver in xorg.conf
2. Edit xorg.conf and add 'Option "NoAccel"' into the card section
3. Restart X

Actual results:
The system is unusable because of stripes in rendering

Expected results:
The system will be the very similar as without NoAccel option in xorg

Additional info:
I already noticed this behavior few times before this but every time it was just a flash of stripes which disappeared immediately.

After today's update stripes are gone and from list of updated packages I think it was most likely mesa related bug - the previous version was 8.0.1-7 and after update 8.0.1-9
