Can you test thunderbird 12 from updates?

Comment 2 Herbert Carl Meyer 2012-05-03 13:18:46 UTC
I just updated to 12.0.1, still broken.

Comment 3 Martin Stransky 2012-05-03 13:31:57 UTC
Can you please try it in safe mode? (thunderbird -safe-mode). Can you try a fres new profile? Please attach a screen of the corrupted popup.

Comment 5 Herbert Carl Meyer 2012-05-03 20:37:16 UTC
the problem does not occur in safe mode.

It also does not occur on another system, running Fedora 17, with the gnome-classic desktop. It runs gnome-classic because of a low grade video adapter.

I will try this system with the xcfe desktop, then come back to gnome, try to create a new profile.

Further reports later.

Comment 6 Herbert Carl Meyer 2012-05-03 20:51:07 UTC
Same results for xfce desktop, on this system.

Starting with a new profile is not feasible, that profile has no messages or filters.

Comment 7 Martin Stransky 2012-05-04 05:53:44 UTC
Tanks. Can you please attach a bigger image? Ideally with the whole dialog box.

Does it matter which filter do you choose? And did you see it in previous version? What happens if you create a new filter and then edit it? It may be also a bug in X, could you try to increase your screen resolution?

If nothing of them help, please try to get stacktrace when thunderbird is unresponsive. How-to is here:

https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Debugging_guidelines_for_Mozilla_products#Attach_debugger_to_running_application

and please paste the stacktrace here. Don't forger to install the debuginfo packages (https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Debugging_guidelines_for_Mozilla_products#Installing_debug_info_packages)

Thanks!

It does not matter which filter I choose.
It occurred in previous version.
I cannot create a new filter, the same thing happens as when I try to edit.

I can agree it might be X, I sometimes see large triangular artifacts, usually on screen refresh after getting new messages. The display is an Intel i915, but I cannot increase resolution. Screen is a 1076x600 touchscreen netbook. Small height is confusing display code ?

When I have more time, I will do the serious debugging. I have to teach this afternoon.

Comment 12 Martin Stransky 2012-06-20 14:01:23 UTC
The resolution may not affect it - works fine for me in 800x600. Can you test stock mozilla binary from http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/thunderbird ?
