Description of problem:

dconf loops rewriting the user file hammering the disk and hogging the system. Even with silent disks the continuous noise is maddening

At the same time something is changing all the time the num lock state, making it impossible to use the numpad

If something is constantly changing a setting, that is not a dconf issue.
