Description Rolf Offermanns 2012-04-19 17:34:45 UTC
Description of problem:
I have updated my system from F15 to F17 (beta) following the procedure in the wiki:
https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Upgrading_Fedora_using_yum#Fedora_16_-.3E_Fedora_17

I now have /bin, /sbin/, etc. symlinks to /usr/bin, /usr/sbin, etc.

I installed the xfsdump pkg. after the F17 upgrade and it contains symlinks from /usr/sbin/xfsdump -> ../../sbin/xfsdumps (for other binaries, too).

Result:
# ls -l /sbin/xfsdump
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 18 Apr 19 19:23 /sbin/xfsdump -> ../../sbin/xfsdump

# ls -l /usr/sbin/xfsdump
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 18 Apr 19 19:23 /usr/sbin/xfsdump -> ../../sbin/xfsdump

Only the symlinks are there, not the actual binaries.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
xfsdump-3.0.6-2.fc17.x86_64

Comment 1 Eric Sandeen 2012-04-19 18:11:10 UTC
Interesting. I didn't change xfsdump w.r.t. /usr for F17, it was only the system around it which changed. So it's the dueling symlinks which broke things I guess. :(

Can you confirm that:

http://kojipkgs.fedoraproject.org/packages/xfsdump/3.1.0/2.fc18/

(built for f18, with a hacky fix for the /usr move) fixes it?

Thanks,
-Eric

Comment 2 Rolf Offermanns 2012-04-20 06:19:30 UTC
Yes, this package works for me. Thank you!

Comment 3 Eric Sandeen 2012-04-20 18:52:27 UTC
Thanks, I'll merge the changes to F17.

-Eric

Proper F17 version should be in the repos soon, feel free to remove your f18 one from koji an make sure the "official" one is good as well :)

Thanks,
