Description eyurtese 2012-04-23 15:19:28 UTC
Description of problem:

yum.log
Apr 23 11:58:15 Updated: 3:ypbind-1.35-1.fc16.x86_64
Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
http://lists.fedoraproject.org/pipermail/package-announce/2012-April/078246.html

How reproducible:

The machine uses DHCP to get IP, and uses NIS for authentication. This used to work until I updated the packages. (last update was done on March 24).

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Make a fedora installation which uses DHCP + NIS
2. Update to latest ypbind
3.

Actual results:
logins are unavailable until restart of ypbind.service

Expected results:
I would expect to be able to login.

Additional info:
I guess the DHCP can be the culprit here? ypbind should start after DHCP becomes ready...?

Thanks for the report. I believe, this is a the same issue as in bug #812501. A fixed build is already in updates-testing, feel free to test the build:

Package ypbind-1.35-2.fc17:
* should fix your issue,
* was pushed to the Fedora 17 testing repository,
* should be available at your local mirror within two days.
Update it with:
# su -c 'yum update --enablerepo=updates-testing ypbind-1.35-2.fc17'
as soon as you are able to.
Please go to the following url:
https://admin.fedoraproject.org/updates/FEDORA-2012-6135/ypbind-1.35-2.fc17
then log in and leave karma (feedback).

Are you sure this is the same problem?
