This problem has happened again. Here's another /var/log/messages. This file does NOT obsolete any attachments.
This problem has re-appeared this morning during a power on after a kernel crash, see bug 817227. reboot system boot 3.3.7-1.fc16.x86 Sun May 27 16:48 - 16:57 (00:08) root tty1 Sun May 27 16:53 - crash (00:-5) Again, keyboard and mouse disappeared after boot. Unplug/re-plug of these 2 USB devices caused them to re-appear. Are you still seeing this with the 3.4 or 3.5 kernel updates? Josh, I have not seen this bug for some time now. I'm at the current FC 16 levels now. I do have some other problems but have not been contacted about them. Sometimes when I issue the reboot command, there's a stack trace at the end of the messages that flash by. There's no way to stop the system and write anything down and nothing shows in any logs I've found. I've tried to get netconsole to work but that's not. I filed a bug and emailed the author(s) but have had no contact. Sometimes, I get a panic at boot which I'm unable to record as well. A subsequent boot seems to make it through. Another netconsole issue? It may be related to the /bin vs /usr/bin changes, I don't know. There's a message that appears and when I search the text I get a reference to creating a initimage that's aware of this situation but I'm not able to find other information. I got a "software update" popup from Firefox Nightly and decided to do the update. This was because I had just started reading email and wanted to reply. I could not get the email tab to respond to my keystrokes. I killed the tab (usb mouse works!). No luck. I reinstated the tab. Still no luck. Input focus was lost or locked by something? My widget's title bars turn red with input focus and this WAS happening. I selected file->close and then restarted Firefox. STILL no luck. I finally disconnected the keyboard and plugged it into the same USB slot. That worked! I don't know if it's related to the "software update" or not. I'll keep watching for this. It has happened at least one other time but LONG ago. I'm running Fedora 16 x86_64, fully up to date and KDE. The keyboard seems to have disappeared. I have a /var/log/messages that I'll attach here... or try. Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): How reproducible: Does not seem to happen very frequently. There was a problem with hard drives disappearing and then appearing at a different drive designation (i.e., /dev/sdb1 changing to /dev/sdc1) Steps to Reproduce: 1.unknown 2. 3.
