I'm going to mark this as closed, as it seems to have been a hardware issue that for some reason only 3.4.0-1 has so far been sensitive to. Despite 3.4.0-1 repeatedly not working properly and earlier kernels behaving fine, juggling the USB ports has made the problem disappear and I can no longer reproduce it, even after a full power-off. |
