is gnome-settings-daemon in your session? When you log in for the first time, can you start a terminal and do something like: ps auxwww|grep gnome-settings-daemon and see what comes up? Ok, my bad. I was starting gnome-panel directly instead of running gnome-session. I'm running things remotely on an X-server on a windoze machine, so I'm not using GDM or the like to manage everything for me. Do you know if there is a way to tell gnome-session to not try to start the windom manager? It keeps trying to, and then complaining that my display already has a window manager running. Thanks! not sure if there's a way. It does it's best to protect against such problems, and is overly cautious as a result. You can pretty safely ignore the warning though. |
From Bugzilla Helper: User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 Galeon/1.2.6 (X11; Linux i586; U;) Gecko/20020830 Description of problem: When running gnome, the font used in menus and applications (i.e. gnome-terminal) is not the font which I have selected in the Preferences->Font selector tool. However, upon loading the font-selector tool, the font immediately changes to the correct one, before I make any selections or mouse-clicks in the font-selector. After that, the behaviour is as it should be. Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): How reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Start gnome 2. Start an app (i.e. gnome-terminal) 3. Select Start-here->Preferences->Font 4. Font in app started in #2 will change to preferred font. Actual Results: See steps to reproduce Expected Results: The preferred font should be loaded when gnome starts! Additional info: Not sure if gnome-core was the correct app to place this bug in...
