This message is a reminder that Fedora 16 is nearing its end of life. Approximately 4 (four) weeks from now Fedora will stop maintaining and issuing updates for Fedora 16. It is Fedora's policy to close all bug reports from releases that are no longer maintained. At that time this bug will be closed as WONTFIX if it remains open with a Fedora 'version' of '16'. Package Maintainer: If you wish for this bug to remain open because you plan to fix it in a currently maintained version, simply change the 'version' to a later Fedora version prior to Fedora 16's end of life. Bug Reporter: Thank you for reporting this issue and we are sorry that we may not be able to fix it before Fedora 16 is end of life. If you would still like to see this bug fixed and are able to reproduce it against a later version of Fedora, you are encouraged to click on "Clone This Bug" and open it against that version of Fedora. Although we aim to fix as many bugs as possible during every release's lifetime, sometimes those efforts are overtaken by events. Often a more recent Fedora release includes newer upstream software that fixes bugs or makes them obsolete. The process we are following is described here: http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/BugZappers/HouseKeeping i will work on this. Thanks Shriramana again for spotting even minor problem of U0C42. I have done these changes. Will be available with next release. Hoping to do release in next couple of days. Meanwhile if you want ttf it is at http://pravins.fedorapeople.org/Lohit-Telugu.ttf closing, please reopen if you face any problem. |
Created attachment 591209 [details] Replacement glyphs for NYU NYUU Description of problem: The sequences for NYU ఞ + ు and NYUU ఞ + ూ produce disjointed glyphs. Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): 2.5.1 How reproducible: Using Lohit Telugu font, type ఞు ఞూ in a wordprocessor at high font size. Actual results: Glyphs are disjointed and not smoothly connected. Expected results: Glyphs should be properly joined. Additional info: I have attached glyphs for NYU and NYUU. Currently (as of 2.5.1) glyph for NYU is at glyph ID 00AE. The NYUU glyph is not provided in precomposed manner but I think just the consonant glyph and vowel sign glyph are placed in sequence. The existing NYU glyph should be replaced with the newly provided glyph. Further, a substitution mapping for ఞ + ూ to the new NYUU glyph should be added. The GPLed Pothana font has proper glyphs and using that as reference I have made these replacement glyphs. I have also touched up the vowel sign glyph for UU ూ as it was having some awkward curvature on the bottom side of the rightward stroke i.e. ా part of ూ. Even though it will be visible only at high font size, please replace that also for sake of high quality of font. I have included in the TTF the disjointed glyphic components by joining which I have produced the new glyphs. This is just for reference. They are not needed for the Lohit Telugu font. Further, note that glyph VS-AA ా is also having this awkward curvature. But for changing it I have to change glyphs of all consonant + AA combinations but I don't have time to do that now. If possible please do that also.
