1. The current best approach for parent poms is to not specify anything in the Requires (besides java, jpackage-utils and maven, of course), this will not pull the unnecessary packages in case something requires the parent pom at runtime. Of course every package depending on the parent pom must specify the correct BuildRequires we just dropped here.

1. It's completely unnecessary to create a tarball with the pom, you can simply specify the source like this:

Later on in %prep you just do:

cp %{SOURCE0} pom.xml

And that's all. You can remove all the comments with information how to generate the tarball.
