I tried to install it again today and I'm still having the same hardware recognition for the network card, the soundcard, the firstboot.. Cause I need linux, i installed back Mandrake 9.0 and everything is working with this distro. The soundcard soundblaster 128 is recognized and the two network cards are working. If you need more info, feel free to contact me. What exactly do you mean by 'recognition error'? It seems redhat isnt detecting my network card. The installer isnt asking me for network setting(like using DHCP ...) and for the sound card, I get the test sound.. The dialog is saying "Do you hear that sound?" . I respond "no". And i get an error saying "sound will not be available for my system". in mandrake, the hardware recognition for the soundcard says "Ensoniq...". feel free to ask for any question. louis If it asks to play a test sound, that means it *did* recognize the card. That implies more of a driver issue. Maybe its a driver problem for the soundcard... as you say. Do you have a way to solve the problem for the sound?(its working in mandrake 9 but not in redhat 8.1 beta). If you have a suggestion, please explain it step by step. Do you have any suggestion for the network cards? (the two cards are working in mandrake 9.0 and in windows2k). louis do you have the instructions for using mandrake 9.0 drivers for the sound card on redhat 8.1 phoebe so i could give it a try and give you feedback? Will the problem with the network card be fixed for the 8.1 release(this is really important problem. I cant live without a soundcard but not without network).? louis Thanks for the bug report. However, Red Hat no longer maintains this version of the product. Please upgrade to the latest version and open a new bug if the problem persists. The Fedora Legacy project (http://fedoralegacy.org/) maintains some older releases, and if you believe this bug is interesting to them, please report the problem in the bug tracker at: http://bugzilla.fedora.us/ |
