"Once a topic has been saved/updated"

try to avoid the slash in technical writing. Use something like this instead:

"Once a topic has been created or updated"

It should also be noted that topics are rerendered in a first in first out queue, so there can be a delay between a topic being created or updated and its HTML view being updated.
