Description Amit Shah 2012-08-06 20:12:13 UTC
The bigger issue here is that the mapping between workspaces and applications isn't remembered after session restore.

+++ This bug was initially created as a clone of Bug #708625 +++

Description of problem:

I have several terminal windows and some apps like gnote, firefox, gwibber, etc. running all the time. I'd like the session to remember the apps and the workspaces they're in so that my desktop is restored on the next login.

Enabling the setting in 'org.gnome.session' property via dconf-editor doesn't quite work: I only get the apps started by default that were always there before the upgrade to F15 and gnome-shell.

For example, I used pino in F14 but after upgrading, I'm using gwibber. gnome-shell still starts pino and doesn't start gwibber at login.

Also, the workspaces the apps are on aren't remembered, so at each login I get a cluttered first workspace. I have to then manually spread out the apps by creating new workspaces.
