It may be possible to make Wireshark crash, hang, or execute code by convincing someone to read a malformed packet trace file.

Affects 1.8.0 to 1.8.1 and is fixed in upstream 1.8.2 version.

Statement:

This issue did not affect the versions of wireshark as shipped with Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5 or 6.
