ksplash crash usually implies a bad ksplash theme (it doesn't do much sanity checking itself), where did you get this "Countdown" theme from?

From Splash Screen System settings -> get new themes.
You can search it.

OK, moral of the story here is that the "Countdown" theme is broken. :-/  

We don't ship it, so there's not much we can do about it.
