Description Andrew Beekhof 2012-10-08 02:37:37 UTC
Description of problem:

The version of asciidoc included in fedora/rhel is quite dated (05-2009) and does not have the several years of bugfixes.

In particular, the included version discards the title from program listings.

This impacts the comprehension of documentation built on fedora/rhel.
Pacemaker in particular is affected.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):

asciidoc-8.4.5-7.fc17.noarch

How reproducible:

Every time

Steps to Reproduce:
1.
cat <<-END > test.txt
.Optional Title

[source,Perl]
die 'connect: '.$dbh->errstr;

Not a code in next paragraph.
END

2. asciidoc -b docbook -d book -o test.xml test.txt
3. cat test.xml

Actual results:

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
<!DOCTYPE book PUBLIC "-//OASIS//DTD DocBook XML V4.5//EN" "http://www.oasis-open.org/docbook/xml/4.5/docbookx.dtd">

<book lang="en">
<bookinfo>
    <date>2012-10-08</date>
</bookinfo>
<programlisting language="Perl" linenumbering="unnumbered">die 'connect: '.$dbh-&gt;errstr;</programlisting>
<simpara>Not a code in next paragraph.</simpara>
</book>

Expected results:

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
<!DOCTYPE book PUBLIC "-//OASIS//DTD DocBook XML V4.5//EN" "http://www.oasis-open.org/docbook/xml/4.5/docbookx.dtd">

<book lang="en">
<bookinfo>
    <date>2012-10-08</date>
</bookinfo>

<formalpara><title>Optional Title</title><para>
<programlisting language="perl" linenumbering="unnumbered">die 'etc';</programlisting>
</para></formalpara>

<simpara>Not a code in next paragraph.</simpara>
</book>

Additional info:

Upstream has confirmed that asciidoc 8.6.8 (current release) shows the correct behaviour.

Comment 3 Stanislav Ochotnicky 2013-03-12 17:12:02 UTC
I don't plan to update F17 since at this point its release supposed to be used by conservative users. I am moving this bug to F18 and for any asciidoc users I'd suggest an upgrade.
