Description warrior 1999-01-18 22:07:11 UTC
Im having problems dialing my ppp0 with my modem, the first
modem i used with linux was, push come to shove, a WinModem
(Yick), but after finding out this was not supported, i
went out and bought a new one, which with all due respect,
was not easy, finally i found a nice lil shop that sold
Linux-Compatible modems, thus i bought a Generic 56K
Internal (Cirrus Chip) Modem, which was said to be
compatible, BUT, when i switched the modems, went into
Linux and dialed up, the good part was, i can now hear the
dial tone, the bad part, it wouldnt CONNECT! it would dial-
in, connect for 2 seconds, and disconnect, try to connect
again, i even tookoff the TIMEOUT "5" setting, it still
didnt work, its getting so irritating, ive looked for
answers everywhere from IRC, to ICQ, to mailing lists,
everyone says find a driver, but your site doesnt seem to
have one for that particular modem, or any modem for that
matter, please help....
