Description of problem:
I'm trying to switch to KDM instead of GDM in FC18,
but I can't 

 /etc/sysconfig/desktop contains
PREFERRED=/usr/bin/startxfce4
DISPLAYMANAGER=KDE

From killing gdm and starting kdm, I know that kdm in principle works,
but after a reboot gdm is still used.

I guess this has to be done via systemd these days.

Package system-switch-displaymanager-1.3-1.fc18:
* should fix your issue,
* was pushed to the Fedora 18 testing repository,
* should be available at your local mirror within two days.
Update it with:
# su -c 'yum update --enablerepo=updates-testing system-switch-displaymanager-1.3-1.fc18'
as soon as you are able to.
