Here are two reproducers:

Start with an empty 12 GB disk:
$ qemu-img create f18-test-2.img 12G

Variant 1:

Check "Encrypt my data. ..."
Proceed to Manual Partitioning
Auto-create mount points.
Click "+" "Customize...".
Click Root.

Click Root to select.
Click "-" to remove.
Click "+" to add a new mount point.
Enter Mount Point: "/", Capacity: 3000.
Click Add mount point.
<Exception occurs>

Variant 2:
Click Installation Destination
Check "Encrypt my data. ..."
Proceed to Manual Partitioning
Auto-create mount points.
Click "+" "Customize...".
Click Swap.
Uncheck Encrypt.
Click Root to select.
Click "-" to remove.
Click "+" to add a new mount point.
Enter Mount Point: "/", Capacity: 3000.
Click Add mount point.
<Exception occurs>

Command-line:
$ qemu-kvm -m 2048 -hda f18-test-2.img -cdrom ~/xfr/fedora/F18/F18-Beta/TC7/Fedora-18-Beta-TC7-x86_64-Live-Desktop.iso -usb -vga qxl -boot menu=on -usbdevice mouse

Comment 16 Fedora Update System 2012-11-10 00:55:46 UTC
anaconda-18.28-1.fc18 has been submitted as an update for Fedora 18.
https://admin.fedoraproject.org/updates/FEDORA-2012-17823/anaconda-18.28-1.fc18

Comment 17 Fedora Update System 2012-11-10 19:38:16 UTC
Package anaconda-18.28-1.fc18:
* should fix your issue,
* was pushed to the Fedora 18 testing repository,
* should be available at your local mirror within two days.
Update it with:
# su -c 'yum update --enablerepo=updates-testing anaconda-18.28-1.fc18'
as soon as you are able to.
Please go to the following url:
https://admin.fedoraproject.org/updates/FEDORA-2012-17823/anaconda-18.28-1.fc18
then log in and leave karma (feedback).

Comment 18 Adam Williamson (Red Hat non-Fedora) 2012-11-23 06:39:36 UTC
Steve, can you re-test with Beta RC1 and confirm this is fixed? If so, close the bug. Thanks!

Comment 19 Steve Tyler 2012-11-24 03:13:21 UTC
Verifying that a traceback does not occur using the reproducers in Comment 15 with:
anaconda-0:18.29.2-1.fc18.x86_64
Fedora-18-Beta-x86_64-Live-Desktop.iso (RC1)

Thanks.

The reproducers do, however, expose:
Bug 879702 - root volume may be created with 4 MB capacity instead of 3000 MB capacity

Tested with:
$ qemu-kvm -m 2048 -hda f18-test-3.img -cdrom ~/xfr/fedora/F18/F18-Beta/RC1/Fedora-18-Beta-x86_64-Live-Desktop.iso -usb -vga qxl -boot menu=on -usbdevice mouse
