Description Vitezslav Humpa 2012-11-26 16:39:44 UTC
Description of problem:
The Tools->Check Spelling menu item should keep being greyed out when there is seemingly all correct in the text and get activated otherwise. However this behavior is not always consisted. It is very easy to confuse it.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
gedit-3.6.1-2.el7.x86_64

How reproducible:
Always

Steps to Reproduce:
I.e.:
1. Open Gedit (greyed)
2. Into the empty text area type i.e."hhhhhhhh" (active - correct)
3. Delete all text (greyed again - correct)
4. Now type i.e."hhhhhhhhh" again, you can even hit enter afterwards

Actual results:
Now it keeps greyed out - can't activate spell checker even if we have the same nonsense there like the first time.

Comment 3 Tomas Pelka 2015-05-14 20:08:32 UTC
For me the option is grayed out only when doc is empty and there is actually nothing to check.

I believe this is fixed by rebased gedit.

Comment 4 Matěj Cepl 2015-05-15 09:29:00 UTC
Cannot reproduce with gedit-3.14.3-1.el7.x86_64

Comment 8 Martin Simon 2015-09-02 09:46:59 UTC
According to comment 3, comment 4 and my verification in gedit-3.14.3-7.el7.x86_64 the bug is fixed. Also, the reproducer has been incorporated into our gedit test plan.
