Previously, when attempting to set email notifications for specific events, the notification would fail when the $MAIL_FROM field was not defined. This has been fixed so that email notifications can be sent correctly.

Verified on SI25.1:

When both  MAIL_USER nor MAIL_FROM are not defined, email is sent from ovirt.redhat.com. also the problem of access the data base is not blocked when notifier service is up.

ovirt.redhat.com is a bad domain to use.
I'd like to have a pm back on this.

Agree, 

Should be sent from the RHEVM host domain. 
Take the host fqdn and send it from RHEV-Manager@<host-Domain>
